The Croutch Machine
Last week we got Andrew Croutch’s new cross country race machine together just in time for the first Ontario Cup. His bike is a custom True North Cycles 29er, full rigid, full XTR. The frame is True Temper OX Platinum steel, with a bi-ovalized downtube and top tube to handle Croutch’s power output.
Croutch’s component selection is Shimano XTR dual control levers, a rapid rise rear derailleur, hydraulic disk brakes with a 160mm front rotor and a 140mm rear rotor. He is running two front chainrings with the stock 44t-32T rings. FSA provides the carbon seatpost, carbon flat bar and the stem. The wheels are hand built using Shimano XTR hubs laced three cross to Salsa Delgato Disk 29er rims. A mix of DT Swiss Competition and Revolution spokes are used to balance strength and weight.
The bike is painted up with a Ford GT40 scheme that looks pretty hot if you ask me. If you are at any of the Ontario Cups this year, make sure to check out this bike!
