I finally got around to getting the data off of my GPS. Here is the course from last weekend’s Ontario Cup mountain bike race at Boler Mountain:

Not much vertical, but a lot of short steep climbs!

Hot and humid – too hot and humid! The course was actually kind of fun – lots of swoopy singletrack, some short sharp climbs and a few open sections. However, the threatened thunderstorms help off and the humidity was crazy high. I don’t know if it was the heat or health, but I worked hard, hurt lots and did not go very fast. I did take lots of photos of the later starts though! I raced on my 29er singlespeed with 34:20 gearing and Maxxis Ignitor tires at 25psi. The tire pressure was good, but I think the tires were slow overall. They would have been good if it had rained, but the WTB NanoRaptors would have been better for the conditions. If I had been able to ride the hills, which I should have been able to, the gear would have been good. I did a lot of running on the later laps, so a harder gear would have been faster on the flat sections….

We’re not racing now until the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice, so time to regroup and get ready for the 24 hour race!
