Monday – On the Ground in Edinburgh
It’s Monday morning and we are in Edinburgh, safe and sound. It’s sunny and cool and we’re looking forward to a day of exploring the city on foot. The flight was uneventful – landing in Glasgow around 0700 on Sunday. Globespan seems to be a good airline. This was our first experience with them. Travel through the smaller airports (Hamilton and Glasgow) was fast and trouble free. Our bikes made the trip intact. For a budget airline, the service was exceptional. The meals were acceptable, frequent drink service and good headrests on the seats. Dave and Mari picked up their rental car at Glasgow, and were fortunately upgraded to a X-Trail SUV – fortunately as this meant all our bikes and gear fit into their car and will be meeting us in Aviemore without us having to lug them around on trains! We spent the rest of the day touring Glasgow briefly then over to Edinburgh and Mark and Jackie’s place, curry take away for dinner, then early to bed after 30 odd hours without solid sleep!

Edinburgh Bound

We will be starting our trip to Scotland with a quick visit to Edinburgh to tour around and hang out with Mark and Jackie. This photo is from 2004 – our last visit. The picture is taken from Arther’s Seat looking over downtown Edinburgh.

Singlespeed World Championships Here We Come!
We are off to the Singlespeed World Championships in Aviemore, Scotland. We fly out in a couple of days – hopefully our bikes will make it over with us! We’re going to be hanging out in Aviemore for most of the trip – biking and hiking. We will spend some time in Edinburgh as well. The Mountain Bike World Championships are also happening in Fort William the week after SSWC2007 – hopefully we can make it over to watch the Elite XC races, and watch Emily Batty representing Canada in the U23 race! I hope to make some posts from overseas, so stay tuned!

The highlights are a bit burnt, but I still like it!
