Dermont’s Custom Carbon CX Machine

Dermont’s Custom Carbon Cyclocross Frame

Here is the sister frameset to Croutch’s (posted a last week). Dermont’s custom True North Cycles frame is a softer construction. Like Croutch’s, the frame is full carbon, full custom CX specific geometry, stiffness and details. The frame has titanium inserts for the bottom bracket threads and headset cup pressing surfaces. The bike should be together and on the circuit for this weekend.

Croutch’s Custom Carbon Cyclocross Bike

Croutch’s CX Bike

Full carbon. Full custom. What more can we say. Well – how about some specs – Alpha Q CX20 fork, Paul’s Neo-Retro brakes, Campy Chorus drivetrain (with an XTR front derailleur for now), FSA bar, stem and seatpost, Red Selle Italia SLR saddle and matching tape. The wheels are hand built using DT Swiss RR 1.2 rims, Campy Record hubs, DT Swiss Revolution spokes up front and Revolution/Competition on the back. The bike rides like a dream. It is a bit stiff for me, but I’m lighter than Croutch, and putting out a lot less force!  The carbon top tube is nice and comfy on on your shoulder for the cyclocross carry as well.

Carbon 29′er Pictures!

I finally have some pictures of the True North Cycles carbon 29′er singlespeed posted in a gallery page! The bike is going to be racing at the Duke’s Epic 8hr this weekend, at the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice, at Paul’s Dirty Enduro and at the SingleSpeed World Championships in Aviemore, Scotland.

Adam’s Red 29′er

I got this bike together a week ago, but haven’t had time to post some pictures. Adam’s new True North Cycles mountain bike is a custom True Temper OX Platinum steel 29er. Like most of our cross country racers, Adam is set up with a Pace RC-31 rigid fork on the bike:

The 26 inch fork makes a perfect 29er fork for a custom frame, as we tailor the head angle to give aggressive handling with the shorter, lighter fork. Adam’s fork is also dusted with a Kandy red clearcoat to match his blood red paint scheme.

Adam’s bike is built up with a full XT build kit with hydraulic disks. However, Adam had an eccentric bottom bracket shell installed so he can easily run the bike as a singlespeed in the future.  The paint on Adam’s bike is a rich blood red created by putting Kandy red clearcoat over a pearl white base.  The rear of the bike fades to black.  Adam races Elite and will be at most of the Ontario Cup races – check out his bike, it’s hard to miss!
