Carbon 29′er Singlespeed
(last updated 2007-05-24)
Here are some pictures of the prototype full carbon, full custom True North Cycles 29er single speed we put together for one of our Elite riders.
The bike is a rigid singlespeed with 29 inch wheels. The fit, handling and ride characteristics are tailored to the rider’s feedback from the geared 29′er she races for us currently. She will be racing this bike at a number of enduro events around the province and at the Single Speed World Championships this fall in Aviemore, Scotland.
The frame is a mix of unidirectional and bidirectional carbon with a titanium eccentric bottom bracket shell, titanium Paragon Machine Works dropouts and rear disc mount and titanium head set inserts. The frame is built up with a Chris King headset and Pace RC-31 C-Type carbon/titanium rigid fork…..
…XTR cranks, Tomac Small Block 8 tires, Salsa Race Disc rims…..
…XTR disc brakes (140mm rear), XTR hubs, DT Revolution spokes, Chris King cog with carbon spacers, FSA bar, stem and seatpost. We don’t have a working scale right now, but it certainly doesn’t weigh very much!
