    Dave,

For the NYE CX what rim setup were you using with the Muds setup tubeless? Any burping issues at 35psi? I’m going to try out the new Hutchinson TR ‘cross tires (and maybe the Muds with some Stan’s) and I’m debating between the Stan’s rimstrip or just tape and valves in my Ksyriums and/or DT RR1.2s.

I was running the Muds on the Stan’s 355 rims. I might have lost a little air, but there was enough to finish. The setup was excellent. The course had a lot of slush that had been walked on then frozen into ‘potholed’ ice. The tire just conformed to the ground and stuck. Lots of rim contact with the ground but everything stayed happy.

Thanks for the info. I got the muds going on my Ksyrium Equipe (lower end) wheels, but it wasn’t simple like all of my installations on the Stan’s rims. Stock rimtape (thin) + 1 layer of Velox rimtape + 1 layer of Stan’s yellow tape (21mm) did the trick, but even then it takes some soap and the compressor to get them on. Stan’s tape without the Velox did not work, as things were too loose.

The ride is worth the trouble, but at my weight I can’t go as low as you with the pressures - 45 psi is as low as I’m comfortable with out back, and maybe around 40 in front. Like you said, a little rim contact on roots and such and things stay happy. Maybe next set of cross wheels I’ll get the 355s but for now this will work quite well.
